Total snowfall accumulations could reach 2 feet near Jay Peak; 8 or more inches throughout the Green Mountains and up to a half foot in the Berkshires.

Wind gusts are expected to reach 45 miles per hour during the storm, according to NWS.

A winter weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for most of West Michigan and will continue until midnight Sunday.

There is also a lake effect snow warning in effect for Livingston, Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming Counties through Monday. All the warnings are scheduled to end Monday evening.

The service said it expects parts of southern Vermont counties, such as Bennington and Windham counties, to see up to 5 to 10 inches of snow.

Visibilities will drop quickly to less than a quarter-mile at times in the band of lake effect snow. A watch means there is the potential for a large amount of lake effect snow. An inch or less is forecast Monday evening.

The winter weather is expected to make for a tough commute Monday morning.

The alert for heavy and blowing snow, with high winds, takes effect at 1 a.m. Sunday and extends until 7 p.m. Monday, according to the government forecasters in Albany, N.Y. Additional snowfall and accumulation expected through Monday.
