Most Americans plan to skip Thanksgiving Day sales
Many retailers are gearing up for the busy Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping holidays during the Thanksgiving week. Overfelt says the holiday is a critical time for many Missouri stores.

Stein Mart will open at 5 p.m. Thanksgiving day and Wal-Mart, Toys “R” Us and Target open at 6 p.m.
Shoppers say they won’t let their dinner plans interfere with shopping and taking advantage of low prices. Best Buy reopens at 8 a.m. The survey showed 85 percent in that age group plan to hit the stores or shop online on Black Friday. For example, J.C. Penney is making its deals available on its website on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving for the first time. The mall will reopen at 6 a.m. on Black Friday and close at 9 p.m.
Amazon is offering double the amount of deals it had a year ago, and is already inspiring customers to shop their awesome deals.
A significant number of those shoppers, both online and in stores, will be millennials. In the past, doorbusters were only at the store.
However, many stores need all of their employees to work on Black Friday and on Thanksgiving, if they are open. And they’ll all offer their deals earlier that day online.
The annual and infamous shopping holiday has become a staple of the holiday shopping season, as sales and deals – many of which in short supply – can lead to savings for dedicated bargain hunters. Despite the decrease, industry experts say Black Friday sales are expected to increase around 2.5 percent over past year, with millennials most likely to shop the day after Thanksgiving. Numerous retailers will place items in the sales flyers to make the consumer suspect they are getting a deal, but when you look at the regular price you’re only saving $5 or $10 from the regular price, which is not much if you actually think about it.
Black Friday contributes to unnecessary pollution and takes the attention away from what Thanksgiving is actually about. Most people will keep your place in the line for you, while you dash off to get the item.
So ahead of Thanksgiving we looked into which days offer the best deals on specific items.

Despite its name Black Friday, the big sale lasts for more than one day.

Along with the turkey and stuffing, football and family, Thanksgiving has grown to go hand in hand with Black Friday shopping. Holiday sales have already increased by 3.2 percent between 2015 and 2014. He explains that “the smart and savvy retailers are using the data they’re getting on their promotions, and keeping the promotions up that are working, and taking the ones that aren’t down and replacing them with newer or different promotions”.
