Jets vs Patriots Game Thread

Sunday’s 22-17 defeat to the New England Patriots wasn’t any different. The Jets (3-8) lost their third straight game, a stretch in which they have only been outscored by 12 points.

On Sunday, the Patriots vs. Jets live stream and TV game will be among the featured late afternoon matchups on the 2016 #NFL schedule.

The Jets may be (almost officially) out of the playoff race, but this game can be indicative of how the rest of the season plays out.

Offensively, Gang Green will have their opportunities. Patriots fans loudly chanted “Brady! You can tell they’re going to know how we might attack them”. “But you have to be judicious in how you do that and when you do that and don’t sacrifice the rest of your team just for the development of one guy”. There’s little doubt that he’ll be under center for the first-place Pats, who should be able to thump a Jets team that has fallen apart.

He served as the gentlest lead-blocker in the history of football, setting what looked like a moving screen pulled from a youth basketball game as LeGarrette Blount reversed field and ran for 10 yards.

But Brady hasn’t become one of the best to play the game without reason, and again, he proved it on the fourth-quarter drive that started with 5:04 left.

At 39-years-old, most players begin to decline. No matter what the records are, no matter when the game is being played, both teams badly want to come away with a win.

PREDICTION: The Patriots have felt right at home on the road, and they have a decided advantage at quarterback.

Tight end Martellus Bennett (ankle, shoulder) and wide receivers Julian Edelman (foot) and Chris Hogan (back) are also playing after being listed as questionable, making all of Brady’s top targets available.

When the National Football League schedule was revealed, this was a primetime matchup: The Patriots, the long-standing kings of the AFC East, against the (apparently) rising Jets, who had just missed the playoffs last season despite winning 10 games. New England and NY have a storied rivalry that dates to the first season of the AFL in 1960.

But the Patriots started 3-1 while the Jets opened 1-3. Gronk always seems to find ways to hurt the Jets, so they will feel better that they don’t have to worry about him. If the Jets are going to pull off an upset, they will need Richardson and the defensive line to get pressure on Brady.

Fitzpatrick has played well below expectation this season, as his play has been very inconsistent. Ryan Fitzpatrick has a limited arm, but hopefully Chan Gailey doesn’t screen pass us to death.

Another ailing Patriot, tight end Rob Gronkowski, also is expected to be active for the AFC East matchup in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
