SC Governor Haley picked by Trump for UN Ambassador

Haley, a 44-year-old Republican, sharply criticized Trump during the presidential campaign over his harsh rhetoric about illegal immigrants and for not speaking forcefully enough against white supremacists.

If that happens, Haley would become the first female – and first nonwhite – Cabinet-level official in his administration.

Carson has not yet accepted the offer, but he tweeted on Wednesday that “an announcement is forthcoming about my role in helping to make America great again”. In 2015, she ordered the removal of all Confederate battle flags from the perimeter of the state capitol.

“Under her leadership we will reform the U.S. education system and break the bureaucracy that is holding our children back so that we can deliver world-class education and school choice to all families”, the incoming president said. Haley’s office did not respond to a request for comment. But on Monday she said none of that came up at their meeting last week in NY.

“It became a national example of how you can deal with racial issues peacefully”, he said. Nature damaged many of us with the thousand-year flood and Hurricane Matthew.

Here are five things we’ve learned from Trump’s selections and top choices. They didn’t look for someone to blame, or hate.

The leading teachers’ union responded that she is the most anti-public education nominee ever, and education policy expert Diane Ravitch calls her a radical right wing conservative.

Mrs Haley has two children, was born Nimrata Nikki Randhawa and raised a Sikh but later converted to Christianity. They have two children, ages 18 and 15.

“Now we got a UN Ambassador we can say from our third grade class”, said Kinard. She’s the daughter of Indian immigrants. She was critical of some of Trump’s proposals, such as his temporary ban on Muslims’ entry to the US, during the Republican primary contest and backed Sen.

“The citizens of SC spoke”, she told reporters in 2013.

The president-elect has given jobs to two Republican women who clashed with him on the campaign trail, and is considering offering arch-critic Mitt Romney the most senior post, secretary of state. Her predecessor Susan Rice, like many ambassadors to the United Nations before her, spent part of her career as a diplomat.

The South Carolina governor was heartened to receive the post.

“Her only global experience has mostly just been going overseas seeking trade for SC”.

The Post and Courier noted that Haley has taken at least eight trips overseas since taking office in 2011, including visits to Germany. Her parents emigrated from India in the early 1960s.

Governor Haley is a proud graduate of Clemson University where she earned a degree in accounting.

In 2010, she was a three-term state House member, little known across the state.

The following month, Haley warned that the floundering GOP candidate was “everything a governor doesn’t want in a president”.
