Lauren Graham & Alexis Bledel React to ‘Gilmore Girls’ Final Scene

Rory and Lorelai have come full circle, with Rory poised to accept adulthood with all its flaws, as she embarks on the twin adventures of writing a book and raising a child. Among those celebrating the show’s revival is star David Sutcliffe (who plays Rory’s father), who shared his excitement on Instagram. This lasts throughout the entire revival series, with Rory and Logan finally seeming to go their separate ways after one last hurrah with the Life and Death Brigade in “Fall”.

And while the new series answered lots of fan speculation about Lorelai’s love life and her relationship with her mother, it was the four final words that are going to drive us nuts.

That certainly seems to be Sherman-Palladino’s intention. Then it comes out of your mouth, because we had not said it out loud.

Lauren told THR that she didn’t even know the whole “last four words” lore was actually a thing. “I didn’t know that they did in season seven – all kinds of weird crap could have taken place – but, luckily, that was wide open”, she continued. We finally learned the final four words that series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has had planned for years but had to keep secret once she and her husband, executive producer Daniel Palladino, left the series amid contract disputes following Season 6. “I just think she’ll be fantastic”. I wouldn’t dream of giving away the game here, but I will say that my own sympathies regarding The Legion Of Disappointing Boyfriends are not the same as they were when all these young men were younger men. That scene when Lorelai wanders behind the closed store near the trail and looks out across the wild landscape then calls her mom?

Before the new episodes premiered on Netflix, she teased the ending to Entertainment Weekly. Ending the miniseries with Rory being pregnant, likely in the exact same scenario her mother was (only much later in life) serves as the most obvious explanation point on the idea that they are too similar.

Q: What do you think about the fact that we live in a world today where something like this revival is possible? Lorelai’s drive has a profound impact on her daughter as well, Rory graduates valedictorian from her high school and attends Ivy League school Yale University. “We got the ending that weirdly was supposed to be the end of the series”. Since the revival ends on a big cliffhanger, Bledel is asked if she would be interested in returning for another continuation. In some ways, it would be too ideal, but who else is Rory supposed to be with, if not Jess?
