What do you think of the “The Flash” Season 3, episode 8 “Invasion!”?
After bringing Supergirl back to their Earth, Barry brings Team Arrow, Team Flash and the Legends of Tomorrow to a giant S.T.A.R. Labs facility that he refers to as some type of “hall”, where the groups can get to know each other before teaming up to take on the invading Dominator aliens. Technically it began in last night’s episode of Supergirl, but it was just for the last 30 seconds. We’ve included the Invasion! comic book cover below that features The Dominators, because of how closely the episode exuded the feel that this cover creates. The writers did a phenomenal job in keeping the series straight and light hearted. Barry runs to meet it and finds out it’s not a meteor but an alien ship full of aliens. Though, they mentioned that they had a device which they used to lure the superheroes through the President.
Bad news for Barry and Oliver, it looks like aside from the aliens themselves, they still have to face off their equally risky friends who are now being turned against them. However, they made a great team both as crime fighters and as friends. At the end of the episode, after everyone agrees to work with Barry, half of the Legends and Green Arrow are abducted by the Dominators. In fact, Barry’s Flashpoint timeline gets mentioned in a big scene later in the middle act.
Jefferson “Jax” Jackson / Firestorm (Franz Drameh) and Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) discover a message from an older Barry which came from the future.
Guggenheim elaborated, saying, “As far as Flash is concerned, obviously based on Episode 7 of Flash, Cisco and Barry were probably at their lowest point because Cisco learned that Dante died in the Flashpoint conundrum, to suddenly make it a Big Bang Theory title”. Oliver sees his parents and Laurel. “Meanwhile, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and the recruits take on a new threat with help from The Flash (guest star Grant Gustin) and Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist)”. Oliver backs Barry up after Cisco votes for Arrow.
When you see how many actual actors are gathered together from this large superhero family, it feels overwhelming, like massively; Caitlin even remarks when Professor Stein asks her to accompany him to his home “I’m not really needed”.
