Democratic anti-Trump electors raising money off the effort
First and foremost, the 306 electors who are set to vote for Trump were chosen by the Republican Party for the explicit objective of voting for the GOP’s presidential candidate when the electoral college meets. “This would be a more representative idea”.

A Pennsylvania state senator plans to introduce legislation that would award the Keystone State’s Electoral College votes to the victor of the national popular vote in presidential elections, not the candidate who wins the most votes in the state.
Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton earned a 2.5 million vote lead in the popular vote, but a vast majority of votes comes from deep blue states like California and NY.

What she really did was win the popular vote within an Electoral College type of campaign. Needless to say, it’s practically impossible to imagine that the Republican-controlled Congress would be okay with Clinton becoming president thanks to Republican electors breaking ranks.
Maryland, which was the first state to join the popular vote compact, has 10 votes in the Electoral College.
Truism: The Constitution clearly says that each state may appoint its electors in any manner it chooses.
Two states, Nebraska and ME, have already adopted this congressional district method.
Banerian will gather with Michigan’s 15 other electors on December 19 in Lansing to officially cast their vote for the presidency. They are calling themselves “Hamilton Electors”. Some states fine the elector up to $1,000.

A study by the Loyola University back in 2014 though found only 31 cases of voter fraud out of a billion votes cast in nationwide elections. More than five million people across the state voted in this election. Today, citizens have a far better chance of knowing about out-of-state presidential candidates than knowing about presidential electors from their home states.
