Snapchat finally gets group messaging

Nine months after Snapchat overhauled its chat experience, it has launched a new chat feature: Groups. “We couldn’t think of a better time to announce Groups, a new way to communicate with up to 16 friends on Snapchat”.

According to the support page, snaps and chats sent within a Group Chat will be automatically be deleted after 24 hours, by default. The app’s active daily users total 150 million, nearly half of whom – 60 million – live in the USA, and it is projected to generate more than $935 million this year alone.

Of course, since this is a Snapchat service, the group chat itself will be deleted after 24 hours. Check it out below.

Snapchat’s update is available today and easy to use. Tap the scissors icon in the center of the top of the screen, which should turn the screen grayish.

Snap and Chat with up to 16 friends! You can assign a name for the group as well. You can also change the name of the group if you don’t like it. It also allows users to switch between individual and group chats.

While in the group chat you can do all the same things you do in a regular private messaging session including sending videos, selfies, emoji, stickers etc.

Group chats function essentially the same as a standard Snapchat conversation, including stickers, video notes, Bitmoji and more.

“Groups can be created while sending a Snap, or when you’re making a new Chat”, Team Snap said in a press release Tuesday. Another adds a paintbrush effect to saved images. How Do They Work? With the Paintbrush, Snapchat users could easily use it to paint over Snaps in Memories to have a personal and artistic touch to it. You haven’t done anything wrong.

It appears Snapchatters have been asking for this feature for a long time, users taking to Twitter to express their delight at its roll out.
