Obama on Russian Hacking Response: I Told Putin to ‘Cut It Out’
Russia, for its part, expressed increasing annoyance at the continued allegations, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov saying the United States needs to “either stop talking about it or finally provide some evidence”.

Otherwise this looks extremely scurrilous.
As the New York Times notes, if Obama imposed new sanctions on Russia, Trump could just reverse them, but it may be “politically difficult” for him to do so.
Before the election, Clinton and the White House raised concerns about Russia’s interference in the presidential race. “Some of it may be explicit and publicized, some of it may not be”, he told NPR News on Thursday.
In an interview with NPR, President Obama said he had already spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the incidents of hacking, adding that the us must take action if and when foreign governments interfere with the democratic process in America.
President-elect Donald Trump tweeted Thursday that the Obama administration didn’t bring up Russian hacking of us political sites until after Hillary Clinton lost the election. Earnest’s allegations of Trump’s involvement on Thursday, calling it “just remarkable”, and “breathtaking”.
Mr Putin’s spokesman previously dismissed the latest claims as laughable nonsense.
Obama sidestepped the question of what Russia’s motives were and said he was waiting on the agencies’ final report, before pointing out that the hacks and the steady leak of private, stolen information from Democrats led to major damage to Clinton’s campaign.
According to the newspaper, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has backed the CIA’s view that Russian Federation intervened to help Mr Trump.
Wikileaks subsequently went on to intermittently release Podesta’s emails during the election campaign. When asked about specific actions the president can take, Obama said he gave his Russian counterpart a warning on the cyber breaches.
The report cited USA intelligence officials that now believe with a “high level of confidence” that Putin became personally involved in a secret campaign to influence the outcome of the US presidential election.
People in the intelligence community say once the hackers were successful in breaching the DNC’s systems, Putin became more directly involved with the effort. “They understood what everybody else understood, which was that this was not good for Hillary Clinton’s campaign”, he said. Obama said he was more concerned about potential hacking that could hamper vote counting and affect the actual electoral process. We know this has been happening in the UK.
