Most people that are used to snow in the Winter love to see a spectacular snowfall on Christmas Day.

Will it be a White Christmas in your part of the USA this year?

That’s reflected by a NOAA map showing areas where the ground has been covered by snow at Christmas up to 25 percent more frequently in recent decades.

The warning comes after residents in Lancashire were warned to expect a wet rather than white Christmas by online weather app Weather Online yesterday.

It looks likely that another Christmas will pass here in Southern New England with no snow on the ground. A White Christmas is defined as having at least an inch of snow on the ground on Christmas morning.

By Christmas night, “a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain” could move throughout upstate NY and New England, TWC reported.

Slippery roads from rain, ice and snow can be expected from the Midwest to the Northeast during the latter part of this week.

AAA is predicting record holiday travel this year, with 103 million Americans traveling between December 23 and January 2, up 1.5 percent from last year.

From there, it’s expected to hit areas in the mountain West early Saturday before moving towards the east. Little to no accumulation is expected and showers won’t last very long.

The national weather agency says despite milder temperatures in the forecast, there is a 67% chance that London and the surrounding area will have a white Christmas.

Also, Christmas so far is shaping up to be partly sunny across the state with normal seasonal temperatures.

Forecasters are predicting unsettled but mild weather for much of the country. This will lead to a windy and rainy Christmas, with snow remaining well to the north and west.

An amber “be prepared” warning has been issued for many parts of the country with monster gales and 20ft waves threatening the UK.

Experts said people in Scotland could even experience thundersnow – a rare weather phenomenon of illuminating snow flurries.

The stormy forecast has prompted bookies to stretch the odds on Christmas snow as punters splash the cash on wind and rain.
