By Christmas night, “a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain” could move throughout upstate NY and New England, TWC reported.

Met Eireann revealed: “Christmas Eve morning will see showers in the west and north, with mainly dry weather elsewhere”. A disturbance tracking through tonight will bring light snow showers across northwest Montana by late tonight into tomorrow morning.

“The last time, previous to this one, that we did have a white Christmas was Christmas of 2013 when the airport was reporting 5cm of snow on the ground”, said Coulson.

At this point, accumulation only looks to be a coating to an inch for northern New England with a light coating possible in the Berkshires.

According to NWS maps, 2011 was the past year that most of the state, including Ruidoso, woke up to a white Christmas.

The Christmas Day storm is forecast to be the biggest to hit the United Kingdom for more than a year, as it threatens to top winds from Storm Angus in November.

Beyond the holiday weekend, meteorologists say it will get even warmer. High temperatures Wednesday afternoon will drop to the mid 40s before climbing into the upper 40s Thursday and the 50s by Friday.

Slow morning commute travel happened Thursday morning as snow movedthrough. Northwest wind 5 to 10 miles per hour. The National Weather Service is calling for two rounds of the wet stuff before Sunday. West wind 3 to 6 miles per hour.

Tuesday: Cloudy. Chance for snow showers.

Chance of precipitation: 0 percent. The high will be near 44.
