Rogue One Originally Had a Very Different Ending

The new installment’s creators decided against the opening crawl because Rogue One is a separate Star Wars story, and was ancillary to the main story being told, as opposed to being a full-fledged Episode. “And then everyone read that and there was this feeling of like, ‘They’ve got to die, right?’ And everyone was like, ‘Yeah, can we?'” Now, Lucasfilm reveals a closer look at said Rebels cameos, while producers discuss revisiting Rogue One in a future season. (Superfans who diligently track these sorts of things have known that would probably be the case for months.) Arguments could easily be made for keeping or nixing the iconic opener-but one guy who’s solidly in favor of keeping it?

“And you go… ‘has someone gone through all this?”

I absolutely loved the movie. Aside from the ethical concerns that you might have there, and I might have myself in a dead actor being brought back to life (visually) for the use in a film. So I was trying to figure out how this ends where that doesn’t happen.

It’s unclear exactly how this uncanny valley of a young Leia was created (in the credits, Carrie Fisher is listed under “special thanks”), but it’s clear that CGI was involved.

The most longstanding complaint about The Force Awakens is that many saw it as a carbon copy of all the original trilogy’s characters and plot twists, especially from A New Hope.
