Derek Carr expected to undergo surgery after Saturday’s injury

Luck did his best to try to lead a late comeback after Carr left the game with a broken bone in his right leg in the fourth quarter.

Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio and defensive end Khalil Mack walked out on the turf as well, as the crowd at the Coliseum chanted “M-V-P” for the injured quarterback.

The Raiders are 12-3 after their win over the Colts.

The end result? The Colts will miss the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1997-98.

The injury is a massive blow to Oakland’s quest for the top seed in the AFC – they are one game behind the Patriots going into the regular-season finale next weekend against the Broncos.

“Everybody heals differently”, Del Rio said. “I think it’s been a testament to everyone in the group”.

Fans are optimistic as to how far the Raiders will go this playoff season.

That scenario seemed unlikely before Saturday evening, but Carr is easily the best player on the Raiders’ squad and without him, their chances of winning decrease tremendously. Bortles threw for 325 yards and a touchdown, and was on the receiving end of a 20-yard trick play that sealed the win with 5:25 remaining.

Aaron Rodgers completed 28-of-38 passes for 347 yards and four touchdowns to power the Green Bay Packers over visiting Minnesota 38-25 for their fifth win in a row. “We have a lot of other guys who are pretty good”. “It’s tough to see him go down and him get hurt in a situation like that”.

In the first half of the season, Cooper caught 52 passes for 787 yards and two touchdowns. The drive ended when Luck forced a pass to T.Y. Hilton, who was double covered in the end zone. “It’s hard. Football’s hard”.

Trainers checked him on the sideline before a cart took Carr away for X-rays that showed the extent of the damage. Because of that injury, he has not been able to put up the same numbers as earlier in the season and the Colts may be able to take advantage of that. He drafted a wide receiver in the first round (Phillip Dorsett), and he hasn’t worked out. While the bottom line – the final score – is paramount, let’s not overlook a few individual milestones within reach.

RUN DEFENSE: C+Colts running back Frank Gore had 13 carries for 73 yards against the Raiders. He’s had seven fourth-quarter comebacks this year. DeAndre Washington had runs of 9 and 10 yards, before picking up 22 en route to his first career touchdown.

Now comes the Carr-led Raiders.

NOTES: Colts CB Darius Butler sustained a concussion midway through the second quarter and did not return. Raiders DE Mario Edwards Jr.
