Fisher has already completed filming on “Star Wars: Episode 8” with director Rian Johnson, which will be released in December 2017. “But I think if you have the expectation that you’re going to be happy throughout your life – more to the point, if you have a need to be comfortable all the time – well, among other things, you have the makings of a classic drug addict or alcoholic”.
On Twitter her “Star Wars” co-star Mark Hamil, who played Luke Skywaler, said simply: “No Words #Devastated”. Time proved her wrong, and multiple generations of fans are grateful for her contributions. I didn’t. In spite of so many thoughts and prayers from so many.
He said in a statement: “We will all miss her. Carrie was one-of-a-kind. brilliant, original”.
Fisher’s death comes days after she suffered a massive heart attack while enroute to Los Angeles from London.
Fisher, the daughter of Hollywood icon Debbie Reynolds and the late singer Eddie Fisher, catapulted to fame as Princess Leia Organa in 1977’s “Star Wars”.
Along with her daughter, Fisher is survived by her brother, Todd Fisher, and her mother.
Carrie Fisher arriving at the Governors Awards at the Dolby Ballroom in November 2015, in Los Angeles. “I really relished that because I hated wearing that outfit and sitting there rigid straight, and I couldn’t wait to kill him”. She also had a relationship with talent agent Bryan Lourd; the two had one child together, Billie Catherine Lourd, herself an actress. The marriage lasted less than a year with the couple divorcing in 1983.
Fisher was “out and open about her issues with drugs and alcohol, and mental illness and treatment”, Andrew notes.
“It was so intense”, Fisher said. “Also, I do believe you’re only as sick as your secrets”. I feel so lucky that I got to meet her.
Upon landing, the actress was rushed to UCLA Medical Center.
Fisher reportedly worked on the scripts for movies including Hook, Lethal Weapon 3, The Wedding Singer, and Sister Act, and she was said to have been involved in revising the scripts for George Lucas’s Star Wars prequels.
In the heartbreaking post titled “CARRIE FISHER, OUR PRINCESS, PASSES AWAY”, the execs praised her “endearing personality and sharp wit” while also crediting her as an inspiration for young women everywhere.
