Following his decent midseason run as the starter with the Denver Broncos last season, Osweiler was deemed the solution to the Texans’ longstanding issues at quarterback.

Brock Osweiler has the chance to make amends for a disappointing regular season after the Texans confirmed he would start at quarterback in Saturday’s playoff game against the Raiders. Osweiler has struggled trying to live up to the $72 million contract he signed with Houston.
Coach Bill OBrien announced the decision on Tuesday with Tom Savage, who had started the past two games, still recovering from a concussion he suffered on Sunday.
Despite a clunky start to Osweiler’s Texans career, he is making sure that he follows the O’Brien mantra, “team first”. The Raiders are not be destined for a return to Houston for Super Bowl LI without Derek Carr, but neither is Houston with Brock Osweiler. Had the touchdown run there, so I thought he played tough.. I wish it was here today.
“When you are going up against guys that think they are better than you or who has great – for example, great offenses are going to be bring the best out of everybody”, cornerback A.J. Bouye said.
“Winning is hard to do, and obviously a really good feeling, ” Titans coach Mike Mularkey said.

One thing Osweiler isn’t lacking is confidence. It was the most yards he’d had since finishing with 113 in a win over Kansas City on September 18.

He was asked if he expects to see a different player than he did when Oakland beat the Texans in Mexico City on November 21. “I don’t anticipate any learning curve for him … because he has prepared as the starter all along”. “I mean, Latavius ends up with five carries”.
Osweiler did an admirable job filling in for Peyton Manning with the Denver Broncos last season and was an intriguing free agent option at QB for multiple teams. “I say (99.9) because I don’t remember not taking a rep, (but I might’ve) so I don’t want to lie”. “I think I handled it much better this time than previously”. O’Brien hopes that Osweiler’s time on the bench has helped him develop and will make a difference in his play Saturday. The last two defenses that got to face the Texans offense (Cincinnati Bengals in week 16 and Tennessee Titans in week 17) both got double-digit fantasy points against them.

Detroit’s rush defense has been slashed for over 300 yards combined in their last two games, so Thomas Rawls and Alex Collins should have no problem moving the chains on the ground.
