Adam Driver: Carrie Fisher’s death is tragic
A Change.org petition seeking to have the Walt Disney Company officially classify Star Wars’ Princess Leia Organa as a Disney Princess is nearing 60,000 signatures.

Cody Christensen, the creator of the petition, summarized why Fisher’s iconic character should be made into a Disney Princess on the petition’s page.
As Lucasfilm and their overlords at Disney begin to formulate their plans for the role of Princess Leia in the wake of Carrie Fisher’s death, details of her potential plot have begun to trickle out.
Star Wars star Adam Driver, who plays primary antagonist Kylo Ren, went on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and talked about his costar, Carrie Fisher, who died in December.
In many ways, Leia defies the typical monarchical/”royal” stereotypes of refinement and careful etiquette; all the more reason to proclaim her – and her vocal, self-reliant ways – as an official Disney princess.
A report in THR has it that Colin Trevorrow, who’s set to direct Episode IX, is due to meet with Kathleen Kennedy next week to decide what happens with Princess / General Leia going forward.
Or at least it was, until 2012, when Disney bought Lucasfilm, and thus its full Star Wars franchise, for about $4 billion.

People have been holding vigils for Carrie all across the country since her death and an intimate memorial was held for family members. The outlet adds that options for Episode IX include digitally including the late actress to the film and any future ones or leave her out in most scenes so the production won’t be as hard.
