At the funeral of Carrie Fisher, her brother Todd appeared with a giant pill in her hands. “Carrie was a positive advocate for mental health treatment and awareness”, the global pharmaceutical company tweeted.

The star later revealed to WebMD magazine, in typically self-deprecating terms, that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in her 20s. Reflecting on his mother and sister, Todd said he would remember them as “strong women”.

Reynolds and Fisher were so in sync, they even wore the same shoes in one scene. Four days before her death, she had a cardiac arrest on her flight home from London. Lourd’s recent Instagram tribute to her family has earned almost 300K likes and over 14K comments of support. However, a day later, Debbie passed away after suffering a stroke. Throughout the movie, we see the lengths Carrie goes to to take care of her mother, who she also says is her best friend. “My house, I love it”, she said.

More than the conflict, though, were the countless good times and displays of Reynolds’ generous spirit and what McDonnell calls her “workhorse ethic”. “I don’t want to buy a new one”, Reynolds said in response.

“She was the last of her kind. and we’ll never see her like again”.

He added that Friday’s private service “was fitting and it was beautiful” and that the family was planning for a larger public memorial in the future.

Major a-list actresses including Meryl Streep, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gwyneth Paltrow and Meg Ryan were also spotted, as well as comedians Stephen Fry, Tracy Ullman and Eric Idle. “Carrie would have loved this idea “.

The actress was very open about her battles with mental illness and addiction, writing about her rehabilitation in her semi-autobiographical novel Postcards from the Edge.

Carrie and Debbie were both laid to rest yesterday in a family plot at LA’s Forest Lawn Cemetery.
