Memorial to protect the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and remind President-elect Trump and Congress that the fight for civil rights will not rest. Trump has said that he is going to represent all Americans and “I believe that is his intent”, King added. Mr. Trump also took to Twitter, exhorting his social media followers to “honor him” because he was a “great man”.

We commemorate Dr. King’s inspiring words, because his voice and his vision filled a great void in our nation, and answered our collective longing to become a country that truly lived by its noblest principles.

A federal holiday since 1986, MLK Day marks the civil rights leader’s birthday. Lewis, who worked closely with Martin Luther King during the 1960s and suffered a cracked skull protesting for voting rights, made the comments in an interview with NBC News.
Lewis said he wouldn’t go to the inauguration because he didn’t see Trump as a “legitimate” president in light of the Russian hacking.
