9-year-old girl fatally shot inside Ferguson home
While the police shooting of a suspect in a drug raid caused a violent protest in St. Louis, the death of a 9-year-old girl in Ferguson did not.

The shot that killed Jamyla Bolden was sacked outside her home. She was treated and released from a local hospital following the shooting.
“I just want her to be in peace and find out why it happened and the person or persons who inflicted this pain to come to justice”, Jamyla’s father, James Bolden, told the Post-Dispatch.
Police believe the shooter fired from close range into the house, also wounding Jamyla’s 34-year-old mother in the leg.
The officer who tried to save Bolden’s life was very emotional when she spoke about Jamyla.
Police also do not know if the home was targeted or random. “And I have two children, and not only can I not imagine going through something like that, but then to worry about paying bills for your child’s funeral is like something that’s just so sad”. “I said a prayer for her. My heart is still broken”. Riverview Garden schools spokeswoman Melanie Powell-Robinson says the 9-year-old was excited to share her summer readings with her classmates.
“I kept holding and holding her”, the grandmother, who asked not to be named, told the St Louis Post-Dispatch.
‘But right now, rest assured they are doing their job’. “This epidemic of lost life under false pretence and of no real significant reason has to change”.
