In the fourth quarter, Samsung’s chip business posted a record-breaking 4.95 trillion won in operating profit, accounting for more than half of the company’s total quarterly operating income thanks to favorable market conditions and surge in prices.
And since it will have a big screen – a 5.7 inch Galaxy S8 and a 6.2 inch Galaxy S8 plus as reported earlier too – its overall size will be controlled by maxing out the front face with display.
After five months of “unprecedented” testing, Samsung yesterday revealed why batteries in its failed Galaxy Note 7 smartphone were prone to overheating and fires.
Other rumors surrounding Samsung’s Galaxy S8 suggest the South Korean electronics giant may follow Apple’s lead in ditching the headphone jack.
In other news, the continuous demand for Samsung Electronics’ hardware components on devices other than phone handsets is considered by some as a great contributor in their financial success previous year despite the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, as reported on CNET. Being one of the fastest when it comes to innovation, Samsung LSI has recently begun making processors using the 10nm process, among the Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 – both of which will be part of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.
