Trump Addresses Republican Retreat
“We have agreed to cancel our planned meeting”, Trump told Republicans at a retreat in Philadelphia yesterday.

Even as Mexico says it will refuse to pay for a border wall, House Speaker Paul Ryan told reporters the US government will, with a price tag of up to $15 billion.
“We intend to address the wall issue ourselves”, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., told reporters on the second day of a three-day retreat for congressional Republicans.
And clearly there is none of the open warfare that has sometimes erupted among Republicans, such as when Senator Ted Cruz infuriated many of his colleagues by leading a standoff over Obamacare that partially shut down the government in 2013. “The Supreme Court justice appointment is what was important for us and why we did not vote for Trump because his selection will be highly conservative, ” Joe Barbella of South Philadelphia said.
“Insurance companies will not be able to deny health insurance to people with pre-existing conditions”, Walden said in a telephone interview.
Demonstrators poured into the streets outside a downtown hotel Thursday just yards away from the podium where President Donald Trump made his first appearance outside the White House since his inauguration. In recent days, the talk has turned into a 200-day agenda for passing major legislation before the lawmakers’ August recess. The world has taken advantage of us for many years. He said he hoped to finish health and tax legislation in 2017, but did not guarantee it.
He added that there are a medley of options to get Mexico to pay, and that Trump’s border wall promise will be kept.
US President Donald Trump today (25 January) signed executive orders to build the Mexico border wall and said Mexico would eventually pay for construction.
Yet Trump is challenging that Republican position. Unless Trump pursues a radical policy of massive deportations, and so far that seems hardly assured, the two men are going to get along. He also ordered cuts Wednesday in federal grants for “sanctuary cities”, which shield some immigrants from federal law enforcement, and authorized increases in the number of border patrol agents and immigration officers. Peña Nieto canceled next week’s planned meeting with Trump hours after Trump tweeted, “If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting”. Mexico has said it will not. He said making good on border security was “an issue of trust with the American people”.
Ryan added that the Republicans could do much in “moving us in a great direction” on the fiscal front this year by repealing and replacing Obamacare and spurring the creation of new jobs.

In private, members of the Republican leadership have also reportedly asked him to tone it down, but the Trump doesn’t appear to care. “I think more likely it would encourage them to look for another low-wage country to produce in”. Trump said Ryan is going to do “a lot of writing” that he will ultimately sign.
