“Obstruction by Democrats” – US President Trump accuses Dems for obstructing his administration

But before Obama came along, that distinction belonged to Republican George W. Bush. But she was quick to note that the 11th Legislative District didn’t support Trump and that she supported moderate Republican Gov. John Kasich for president, not Trump. The latter would require in addition defections by eight Democrats.

With 48 senators, just three shy of a majority, exactly what have Democrats accomplished in the first 30 days of the Trump presidency?

The protest in the Senate comes a day after the Democrats held another all-nighter in an effort to stop the confirmation of Trump’s nominee to lead the Education Department, Betsy DeVos. “They don’t want to be seen as capitulating to whatever the White House’s partisan perspectives or goals might be”.

Part of the reason it took so long to fit those last pieces into their cabinets is because those past presidents had to withdraw initial selections due to scandal or insurmountable political opposition.

The other is the modern history of American presidents. This last election was about personal identity more than economic stress. To the extent that he contributed to Donald Trump’s defeat of Hillary Clinton, we owe him an everlasting debt of gratitude. But they are definitely more disliked by the other side.

Jimmy Carter (1977-81): 30%. George HW Bush was missing four.

Barack Obama (2009-17): 13%. Specifically, we should keep in mind the recent history of voter suppression and the degree to which the outcome of the 2016 election wasn’t necessarily determined by voters feelings alienated by the Democrats’ message-nor turned off by the mythical two-headed ogre of “identity politics” and “political correctness”-but rather by Republican strategies to tilt the process itself in their party’s favor”. None of Trump’s have been so easily confirmed.

Ironically, Democratic chances for huge congressional gains may depend on Trump’s success at enacting his agenda. Two weeks into his presidency, it was 12%. More recently it was the most liberal wing of the Party personified by a certain Senator from the great state of Vermont. Voters responded by giving Republicans control of the House in a historic “shellacking”, to quote Obama. Scott Frantz, R-Greenwich, said of Trump distracting voters from the GOP message in CT. “Obstruction by Democrats!” Trump tweeted overnight, as the Senate prepared to vote on his nomination of Sen. As elsewhere, opinions of Trump’s job performance were split by party.

Let us begin with Quinnipiac’s findings on the president himself. While we should and do welcome friendship from President Trump, and look forward to working with him to strengthen the American-Israeli relationship, there are dangers in this perception.

Democrats argue that an investment plan relying on developer tax credits would fail to generate enough construction and would result in the creation of too many toll roads to finance costs over the long term.

House Republicans literally sent Democrats legislation that would radically limit Trump’s rulemaking power, but yet, they’re set to oppose it.

Donald Trump is finding it more hard than any other president to get his nominations to the cabinet approved. He may face GOP defections on those same kinds of issues. The fact that I support a woman’s right to choose says absolutely nothing of how uncomfortable I am when faced with an impending abortion.

It is true that President Trump’s approval rating is historically low in the first month of his presidency, but an approval rating in the 40-43 percent range is not unfixable.

This is a big mistake – as well as a critical misreading of a fed-up electorate. This is not to say that electoral strength does not matter at the University level, as the reversal of the College Republicans’ vote to endorse Trump proved.
