A winter storm warning was issued for Ulster and Dutchess counties in NY and Litchfield County in CT from 7 a.m. Sunday until midnight Monday. Gusty winds develop in the evening.

A major storm will affect our area Sunday into Monday. The precipitation should start as sleet possibly mixed with freezing rain, mainly before 4 p.m.
The National Weather Service extended a blizzard warning to the entire south coasts of Rhode Island and MA on Thursday afternoon.
Beginning early Saturday, most coastal areas from Kittery to Belfast are expected to receive 3 to 4 inches of snow, the weather service said. Eastern Massachusetts would see damaging winds and heavy snow Monday.
“From Sunday afternoon to Monday evening, another powerful winter storm set to deliver blizzard conditions is on the way for portions of New England hit hard by snowfall this past Thursday”, AccuWeather Meteorologist Kyle Elliott said.
By Monday, snow will be heavier at times over parts of New England, including the greater Boston area, according to The Weather Channel. “In the snow belt 6-12” of fresh snow is likely before dying down Monday afternoon.
Some light showers or flurries are possible in the morning Sunday.

One man from out of state was visiting western MA and was shocked at how much snow there was. “We went into this winter in some cases with 10- to 16-inch rainfall deficit”. Some area schools will likely be closed for a third day in a row. Areas farther inland could receive about a foot. At the height of the storm during the afternoon on Sunday, snow could be accumulating at unusually heavy rate of one-to-two inches per hour, Cebulko said. Wind gusts are expected to get over 30 miles per hour inland and 40 miles per hour at the coast, the NWS in Mount Holly said. As this system begins to intensify Sunday night, winds and precipitation will increase. Scattered power outages are possible as well. Beach erosion is a certainty due to the combination of a strong onshore wind and breaking waves.
