Lonely On Valentine’s Day? Celebrate Love That Reaches Beyond Romance
A person who emails me out of the blue to admit they’re struggling, and sad, and I tell them I get it, and we both leave that small exchange a little lighter.

Happy Valentine’s Day, my love!
Rather than “Love is patient, love is kind”, the culture of Valentine’s Day tells us “Love is sweet, love is sexy”. People might say that Self-Love Day sounds very similar to New Year’s Day, especially with the self-reflection, and I agree.
If writing romantic messages in cards isn’t your thing, there are other ways to impress your lover on February 14. Find out about the history of this centuries-old holiday, from ancient Roman rituals to the customs of Victorian England. But who is this mysterious saint, and where did these traditions come from?
There are a number of stories about St. Valentine, whose name the holiday comes from. However, on Valentine’s Day, when grocery stores are packed with roses and chocolates and TV commercials are all about pleasing one’s significant other, it can be depressing for people who aren’t in a relationship. But St. Valentine continued officiating private ceremonies for young couples, despite the consequences. When the Emperor Claudius discovered the valentine’s actions, he was sentenced to death. One legend, which would make for a great movie, has Valentine in one such prison. But when you fall in love, you will fall forever. It is believed that Saint Valentine was a priest who was beheaded by Emperor Claudius II for helping Christian couples Wednesday. At that time every year, the brightest red star in the sky will reach its highest point.
Valentine’s Day is celebrated across the globe.
The truth is murky, at best. Self-Love Day is simply a day in the year where one has to reflect on how well they’ve been on track with their goals from New Year’s. As the Folklore Society notes, Geoffrey Chaucer mentions Valentine’s Day and describes February as the time “when every fowl cometh there to chose his mate” (although the blog Got Medieval asserts that the poet didn’t invent Valentine’s Day and it was already likely associated with love by the time he referenced it).
Today the easiest way to wish anyone on special day is to send a SMS to make that person realize about the day and you are serious enough to remember it.
For me, it is my lovely bride, whom I nearly lost to cancer past year.
Love is too weak a word for what I feel for you.
Love is life. All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love. She makes me whole.
I’m not asking for diamonds or roses this Valentine’s Day.
Sometimes we make love with our hands. Love can involve promoting good in life’s physical, mental, social, environmental and even spiritual dimensions. During this special day, if you have a man in your life take the following quotes as inspiration and appreciate the love between the two of you.
