It was a weird fight to begin with, but Germaine de Randamie’s action after the horn brought controversy to the first ever women’s 145-pound title fight on Saturday.

Justino (17-1) was cageside at UFC 208 to witness Germaine de Randamie’s historic win over Holly Holm for the UFC’s inaugural featherweight championship at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
“The company I’m managed by, one of their partners co-owns Glory MMA in Kansas City with James Krause, who is in the UFC and is now my coach”, she said.
Referee Todd Anderson inexplicably refused to dock de Randamie a point for either infraction, which made the difference in an otherwise tight fight. Teixeira (26-3), a Danbury, Conn., resident by way of Brazil, took Cannanier (9-2) to the mat early and often and outgrappled him for a unanimous decision victory.
As Valentina Shevchenko had done in her July victory over Holm, de Randamie landed a high volume of counter punches – especially in the first three rounds.
After the bell rang again at the end of the third, de Randamie landed a combo on Holm – which left many in shock.
“I want to fight everybody”.
De Randamie when a unanimous decision, 48-47 on all three cards, to claim the newly created women’s featherweight belt. It was in the heat of the moment. She didn’t want to fight me but I am a warrior and I came here to fight. “I apologized, I’m not like that”.
If they do decide to do this again, the hope is that UFC pairs it up with one or maybe two other title fights like they did for UFC 205. “I feel bad. It’s not Anderson’s fault or the UFC’s fault”, Brunson said. This included sharing with the UFC that Mr. Anderson would referee Saturday’s main event. “I would want a few more fights”.
“I’m in a really tough position all of a sudden, because it’s nearly like I can’t say anything or someone will take it the wrong way”. This is my job.
Without taking another breath, the 32-year-old Dutch striker noted this was an opportune time to undergo surgery and fix the torn ligaments in her hand she damaged during a 2015 stoppage victory over Larissa Pacheco.
The win is officially Silva’s first since October 2012.
The Brazilian legend fought a good fight against Derek Brunson.
Chuck Mindenhall of MMAFighting.com said in his post-fight analysis that Anderson should have taken some kind of action, saying there were multiple occurrences that altered the fight. I want to thank my team and the fans in Brooklyn, who have been fantastic to me.
“The New York State Athletic Commission maintains a roster of highly qualified referees for assignment to bouts held in New York State”, spokesperson Laz Benitez said. It makes me feel like I’m at home.
But on Saturday, he lost, and it was a brutal break for Brunson, who bounced back from an embarrassing, error-filled loss to Robert Whittaker the last time he was in the octagon.

“Part of that is just feeling the fight as it goes”, she said, “especially when I had her rocked and she literally dropped to her knees”.
