– Grammy victor Chance The Rapper just announced a spring tour and he’ll stop in St. Paul this May.

The last time Chance the Rapper did a tour that omitted Chicago, he announced his Magnificent Coloring Day festival, held at U.S. Cellular Field on the South Side.

As an independent musician who released his album on streaming services, he had a rather unusual path to the Grammys. His third project, the soulful, celebratory Coloring Book, dropped in May 2016 to widespread acclaim – and Chance’s star (and accessory) has been steadily on the rise ever since. His awards mark a major potential turning point for the music industry as a whole. The win makes Coloring Book the first stream-only album to win a Grammy Award.

When he is not schmoozing with his musical peers or modelling for H&M, Chance is a dedicated family man to his girlfriend Kirsten and their one-year-old daughter Kensli, whom they welcomed in September 2015.

So far, just the Grammy-nominated single “No Problem“, which features verses from Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, has made much of an impact on the charts.

Meanwhile, Drake congratulated Chano for walking away with the awards, even though he lost to him in the categories of Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance.

“Chance the rapper built his whole base off touring”, Anthony Saleh, CEO of the artist-management firm Emagen Entertainment Group, said in October at the New Yorker Tech Fest.

“It’s clear now that streaming is here and probably here to stay”, Bill Freimuth, a Recording Academy executive, told The Times a year ago.
