The Big 12 has two games on the schedule this Monday night with a late start on the eastern seaboard with a tilt between West Virginia (-15.5, 143.5) and Texas.
Texas Tech (17-10, 5-9) went cold from the field in both overtimes and wasted solid efforts from Keenan Evans and Niem Stevenson.
West would go on to finish the game with a career-high 23 points on 7-10 shooting, 6-10 from beyond the arc.
Beetle Bolden, making his his first appearance of the game, missed a 3-point attempt from the left side, and the half ended when Texas threw away a final possession.
Four Longhorns, led by Jarrett Allen’s 19 points and Andrew Jones’ 17, hit double figures as the hosts made good on 47.9 percent of their 48 opportunities. Niem Stevenson added 17 points but had none after halftime. West’s fifth 3 of the half built a 16-point lead at 46-30, and the Mountaineers would lead by 14 at halftime. Jevon Carter pumped in 24 more. Senior guard Tarik Phillip (9.8 points) and junior guard Daxter Miles Jr. He remained as fiery and enthusiastic as ever on the sidelines ever since, taking over at his alma mater West Virginia in 2007 after stints with Kansas State and Cincinnati.
Texas Tech (17-10, 5-9), shooting hotter than the rare mid-February 65 degree temperatures outside, got a hard, contested 3-point shot from Keenan Evans with five seconds left to tie the game at 64 in regulation.
Bob Huggins said, “That’s the Elijah Macon that everybody thought we recruited”.
Carter also had 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.
West Virginia’s Esa Ahmad sat out due to back spasms and is day-to-day.
After a WVU timeout, Carter had a runner just inside the three-point line that bounced off the rim to send the contest to overtime at 64-64. “Now, we’ve just got to go out and do what we do”. West Virginia’s bench outscored Texas’ bench 36-4.

When the two teams met at the Erwin Center in Austin, Texas, on January 14, Ahmad was limited to four points and five rebounds in 15 minutes of action as WVU won 74-72. That game is scheduled to tip off at 2:00PM EST on ESPN.
