Thomas back on practice field
Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas admits that he is elated to be back on the field after spending the off-season rehabbing from shoulder surgery.

Still, the timing of his return to practice – three and a half weeks before the opener – as well as Carroll’s comments are a good indication that Thomas will be available by the time the Seahawks begin the regular season at St. Louis on September 13. “But we’ll see”. Apparently, the injury even had Thomas questioning his love for the game. He had a hard time coping with the first serious injury of his career.
“He’s healed. We are just making sure he has all of the time to regain all of his strength”, Carroll said. Since his return, he’s been limited in practice, wearing a red no-contact jersey this week.
He said there were “a lot of negative thoughts” going through his mind while he was out. He’s taken to it. Earl’s the kind of guy that you have to put the governor on because he’s going to go full speed, and we’re concerned about that.
“I’m just happy that they’ve taken the handcuffs off me and let me kinda do my job”, he said.
On top of the health questions, the Seahawks have no idea when strong safety Kam Chancellor will end a holdout that has lasted 19 days.
“No, we’ll just keep working at it”, Carroll said.
The third QB Seattle signed this week, Jake Waters, a rookie free agent out of Kansas State, only got to see the full playbook yesterday so he is unlikely to play much if at all in Kansas City.

The first-team offensive line Friday is expected to be the same as it’s been all week: Garry Gilliam at right tackle, J.R. Sweezy at right guard, Drew Nowak at center, Justin Britt at left guard and Russell Okung at left tackle.
