Not many people give McGregor much of a chance in this fight.
Despite the hefty price tag demanded by the two fighters, McGregor says he is set on fighting Mayweather and believes the fight will come together. “I think it was a very fair deal”.
Once you start talking that kind of money for a potential super-fight, it’s a real nightmare of legal questions, negotiations and administrative challenges.
At this rate, it’s possible that the victor of the UFC 209 co-main event never gets the chance to unify his title with McGregor. It seemed all hope was lost once talks fell through late past year, only making this announcement more appreciated. But some boxing personalities are now pitching in their ideas on who might win the match, particularly, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao’s coach Freddie Roach on his recent talk with The MMA Hour.
“He would probably be outclassed and it will be a boring boxing match”, he added.
With Ronda Rousey potentially retiring, Jon Jones on suspension and Conor focusing on boxing, the UFC is running low of PPV star for 2017 and this would have worked in GSP favour when negotiating his return. According to TMZ, White lambasted Mayweather after hearing the boxing champ that he will slap McGregor when they meet. “And we can all make a lot of money”.
