Magic Johnson lands critical leadership job with LA Lakers

As part of a front office reshuffling, both Jim Buss and Kupchak were relived of their duties. He’s also a busy businessman, but Johnson says the Lakers will get all of his attention.

Jeanie Buss, co-owner and president of the team, released a very detailed statement about the organization’s decision to clean house. Shortly after, Johnson admitted he would like a chance to “call the shots”. “Right now I’m advising”. Inside the envelope were two tickets and a note that read something along the lines of “Hey guys, this is Magic Johnson, I wanted to give you these two tickets and invite you to tonight’s game. And who’s that going to be?”

“You should never feel like you’re untouchable”, said point guard D’Angelo Russell, the second overall pick in 2015.

Pelinka was the longtime agent for Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant, who was a strong advocate of the hiring of Johnson to owner Jeanie Buss, league sources said. In his new role, he will report directly to Buss and will oversee all basketball operations.

“We will work tirelessly to return our Los Angeles Lakers to National Basketball Association champions”, said Johnson in a statement.

“I$3 just [want him to] have a work ethic like mine, and be super-duper smart because I want him to be smarter than me, and that’s what it’s all about”, Johnson said.

“It’s tricky”, Coach Luke Walton said. There’s not much evidence it will work in Los Angeles, either, where Magic Johnson is now in charge of leading the Lakers back to the promised land. He succeeded Jerry West as general manager and was at the helm of the operation from 2000 until Tuesday.

As for Buss’ comments on Kupchak and his run as GM dating back to 2000? Magic restored the luster of the Lakers as the franchise made the Finals nine of the next 12 years.

Many have been wondering if Jeanie’s brother, Jim, was sacked by his own sister.

“Jim loves the Lakers”.

Magic Johnson is now officially the man running the Lakers’ basketball side. “Our fans deserve no less”.
