A year ago, Mr. Trump chose to forgo CPAC and stay on the campaign trail.
Still, some differences emerged: While Mr. Trump has made infrastructure and his border wall his early priorities, CPAC attendees said their top items are repealing Obamacare and overhauling the tax code.
The group’s website describes the group as “a network of populists who believe that the American government should represent we the people once again”. Trump never spawned this kind of activism, opting for media attention and rallies over building a ground game.
ANDY SULLIVAN: Right. And that’s a big unifying message for the folks in the room. There’s a lot of discussion about things like free speech on campus, which the younger members are encountering.
