East Coast plagued by internet outages, shutting down Canvas, other sites
We wish we could show you the Tweets that Amazon Web Services (AWS) has issued…but the photos won’t load into this article because of the outage.

The Associated Press also reported “issues with delays” involving the wire service’s content delivery system.
There’s no estimate on when service will be restored, but Amazon says it is “actively working on fixing the issue”.
Amazon’s AWS (Amazon Web Services) undergoing a huge maintenance in its US East 1 Region Data centers in North Virginia that leads to all the major websites on the internet to down today.
Amazon Web Services went down today and people are freaking out.
As of this writing, another update was posted by Amazon on the service health dashboard. “You will see updates for individual services shortly”. Amazon is reporting “high error rates” in the eastern region of the US, affecting numerous websites and services.
“Amazon took to their official twitter and said that, “@awscloud – For S3, we believe we understand root cause and are working hard at repairing. Other media sites, including Business Insider, weren’t able to publish any new stories at all for hours.
Most of the websites were knocked offline, and other services such as workplace collaboration tool slack, and some lost key functionality.
Some seattletimes.com services also utilize AWS. According to Amazon Web Services’s website, the S3 system allows “any developer access to the same highly scalable, reliable, fast, cheap data storage infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of web sites”.
This is certainly not the first time that Amazon web Services have run into issues. Many connected devices also weren’t working properly.

An Amazon spokeswoman did not immediately comment.
