The title will be making its way to the Wii U worldwide in the Spring of next year.

The company made the announcement at the Pokemon World Championships in Boston.

While Pokemon may traditionally be a Nintendo franchise, Pokken Tournament is actually co-developed by Bandai Namco, the makers of long-running and popular fighting game series Tekken and Soul Calibur.

You can check out the announcement trailer above to get your fill of Pokemon-on-Pokemon violence, and be sure to stick around for the whole thing. The trailer also revealed the tenth playable character Pikachu Libre. The plan seems to be to slowly release new fighters and rotate them into the current arcade machines.

One ought to note that the footage shown wasn’t from the Wii U version, and that it’s not completed yet; so if it looks a bit unpolished, worry not.
