North Korea fires 4 ballistic missiles, Japan calls it ‘extremely unsafe action’
China sees this as a way to calm escalating tensions between North Korea, Seoul and Washington.

North Korea has fired an unidentified projectile from its Tongchang-ri region, where a missile base is located, South Korea’s military said.
Three of the four missiles came down provocatively close to Japan, in waters that are part of its exclusive economic zone. “The launches are clearly in violation of Security Council resolutions”.
The U.S. has started shipping an anti-missile system to South Korea after North Korea began testing medium-range missiles Monday, according to a new report.
“Malaysia urges North Korea to end all ballistic missile launches and, of paramount importance, to conform to all United Nations Security Council regulations concerning North Korea”, it said.
Kwon Ki-joon, a spokesman for the South Korea Defense Ministry spokesman, said “several projectiles” flew about 620 miles.
The launch coincides with annual exercises between the United States and South Korean militaries and is considered another display of Pyongyang’s anger about the exercises, which it views as a pretext for an invasion.
In telephone calls yesterday to South Korean and Japanese leaders, President Trump said the USA would stand with its Asian allies and take steps to defend against North Korea’s growing ballistic missile threat. Trump has described North Korea as a “big, big problem” and vowed to deal with the issue “very strongly”.
“These exercises are defensive in nature, and they have been carried out regularly, openly and transparently for almost 40 years”, Pentagon spokesman Navy Capt. Jeff Davis said on Friday.
The object was sacked from the Tongchang-ri, in the country’s North Pyongan province, early Monday local time, the official said.
North Korea has launched an unidentified missile, which fell into the Sea of Japan, South Korea says.
The state-run Korean Central News Agency reported that Kim Jong Un himself observed the launch.
North Korea is mired in a separate diplomatic row with Malaysia over the killing of Kim’s estranged half-brother at Kuala Lumpur airport last month.
China has said it will take measures against the United States anti-missile system being deployed in South Korea warning that both countries will bear the consequences.

President Trump has previously said he will not allow the North to obtain a nuclear weapon that could threaten the US.
