Facebook’s Snapchat stories clone, Messenger Day, is now rolling out globally

Facebook said Messenger Day would begin rolling out Thursday on iOS and Android.

Facebook has thrown down the gauntlet to Snapchat by launching its own temporary messaging service. In addition to this, you also have the ability to add cartoon overlays, facial filters and much more. As of now there are just broad, city-based stickers available at the moment, though more localities and suburbs are expected to be added to the mix in the next few days. Some stickers appear when you visit certain neighborhoods or landmarks, so always watch out for them. These contextual, geographically-relevant stickers are only available for New York City and Jakarta at present, but this is likely a simple trial for more cities to come.

Instagram has rolled out geostickers for its Instagram Stories. Each card represents a person’s story and when clicked on will show the picture and video content.

“Messenger Day is a visual status product that helps people share the same thing they would in a one-on-one or group thread, but now share it with everyone they use Messenger with”.

While snapchat is still in the mobiles, many users are trying to get used to Instagram rather than Snapchat. With the recent update on Instagram, the photo-sharing app adopts the “geotickers ” to complement images and videos shared online. Viewers of the story will be able to tap the Geosticker and see the location page.

There’s no need to mess around in your settings every time you want to lay down a thirst trap – you just select from a list of contacts as you’re uploading it and voilà.

Using Messenger Day is pretty straightforward: Within the updated Messenger app, tap the camera button or the “add to your day” rectangle at the top of your inbox.
