Martellus Bennett appears to be joining Packers
The 2012 first round draft pick had never been through potential free agency before, and while the prospect of playing elsewhere was certainly a possibility, he’s thrilled to stay put in Green Bay, where he has put down roots.

Martellus Bennett has found a new team, and a new fan base to entertain.
Bennett posted a picture to his Instagram account Friday wearing a Packers hat inside Lambeau Field.
Another person who seemed happy was Rodgers.
Bennett ultimately got a three-year deal worth $18.45 million from the Packers.
Bennett had 55 receptions for 701 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns for the Super Bowl champions.
According to Pro Football Focus, Hyde allowed a 67.9 percent completion rate, 619 yards, 11.3 yards per catch, five touchdowns and a 90.5 passer rating.
The Packers are plenty familiar with Bennett from his days with the division-rival Bears. He ranks No. 2 in Bears history for total yardage among tight ends. Bennett was also second among tight ends in reception rate last season.
In five seasons, he has 30½ sacks in 68 games, including the playoffs. The Packers lined up Cook in many spots to create mismatches, and expect them to do the same with Bennett.
Cook was released after the 2015 season by the Los Angeles Rams.
Green Bay tight end Jared Cook averaged 8.8 targets over his final six games this past season.
Martellus Bennett entered the 2017 season in an interesting position. There was no guaranteed money left on the contract extension he signed a few days after the 2013 season, making the move to cut the 33-year-old widely expected. And Bennett comes at even more of a value than it first appeared.
Bringing in the 6-7, 248-pound behemoth to catch passes from Aaron Rodgers goes beyond belief at this point.
One of the biggest names on the Packers free agency list is a free agent no more. “You want to see the position grow”.
