Showrunners also confirmed that the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” will only have six episodes, the shortest yet.

The South By Southwest 2017 film festival is now taking place in Austin, Texas, and it was on this occasion that David Benioff, the co-creator of the series, made a few revelations.

Now the singer behind Shape of You has finally agreed to take part in the show, and will pop up at some point in season seven when Game of Thrones returns in July.

The showrunners, at least, have revealed their choice.

Weiss continued the joke, “We both wanted to kill Sansa so bad”, The Verge reported.

The panel was moderated by Williams as well as her on-screen sister Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark. Benioff reportedly covered his face with his hands. Another definitive tidbit, and a definite good news for some music fans, is that Ed Sheeran will be a guest star come season 7. If that’s true for Season 7, we can only imagine what that means for battles in the final season. Weiss confirmed at their SXSW panel on Sunday that the final season of the wildly popular HBO fantasy series will have only six episodes.

The Thinking Out Loud singer reportedly said that he is “very, very happy” about it.

There’s no word if Ed will be performing, recognisable, or even appearing alongside Maisie, but we are certain that whatever he does will be incredible. “When we saw that audition video she was just f-king awesome”.

“I think HBO might well do one, and I’m looking forward to watching it”. And we’ll watch it. Late last week, a slew of details regarding season seven were revealed – a teaser trailer dropped, the premiere date was announced, and a new poster for the season was unveiled.
