RB Eddie Lacy agrees to terms with Seahawks

The Vikings had Lacy in for a visit on Saturday and Sunday after he had visited Seattle. So he’s an exciting guy to add to the mix. If Lacy can get back into shape and stay that way, the Seahawks could go back to having an aggressive running attack and balance the offense to take pressure off of Russell Wilson, making the Seahawks just as unsafe as they’ve ever been.

Carroll was asked if the Seahawks could expect Lacy, listed at by his now-former Green Bay Packers at 234 pounds but reported to be above 260 in the previous year, to weigh 235 pounds in the 2017 season.

The chance for Prosise to evolve into the main running back for Seattle is squashed with Lacy’s arrival. It feels like that needs to be pointed out, because discussion of Lacy’s value-and his health and his weight, all intertwined topics-has become something of an annual ritual. So we have a real target for him. Everything will be about getting him healthy and in shape. That’s the hope of the Seattle Seahawks, who agreed to terms with Lacy on a one-year “prove-it” deal Tuesday. But he has had weight and injury problems the past two years, gaining 758 yards in 15 games in 2015 and 360 in five games in 2016.

With the increased attention on their run game, you have to wonder if Carroll decided that the team was headed in the wrong direction. The Seahawks signed Lacy to a reported one-year deal worth $5.5 million ($3 million guaranteed) on Tuesday. But there’ll be a real concerted effort to make sure he’s at his very best. Lacy joins a backfield of young, talented running backs with Thomas Rawls and C.J.

“We wanted to work really hard at regaining the mentality about running the football”, Carroll said on The John Clayton Show on 710 ESPN Seattle.

“Upfront, everybody knows what’s going on”.

Adrian Peterson has not yet found a new team.

The Packers tried to replace Lacy with veteran James Starks, but as the season wore on McCarthy started using Montgomery there instead of his normal receiver position.
