Vikings Sign RB Latavius Murray, Former Raider
Spielman would not say Thursday whether the Vikings extended an offer to Peterson, who made $12 million last season and turns 32 next week.

Spielman said he texted Peterson at 1 a.m. on Thursday morning. Brandon Carr signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens, which includes incentives to make it a four-year contract. “We had a great conversation earlier today”. Of course, the move all but guarantees the end of Adrian Peterson’s tenure in Minnesota.
Murray than assured the good people of Minnesota that he’s not looking to replace Peterson in any way.
Adam Schefter and Josina Anderson of ESPN reported on Friday that signing Adrian Peterson “remains a possibility” for the Raiders. He will don No. 25 in honor of his best friend, Jonathan Diaz, who died previous year.
It seemed to be a forgone conclusion after Minnesota signed former Raiders running back Latavius Murray on Wednesday. He has rushed for 2,278 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Murray has a $5.15 million base salary in 2018, which becomes guaranteed if he’s on the roster on the 3rd day of the ’18 league year. “The Vikings brought him back after an ugly 2014 suspension and he won the rushing title”. It’s something that the former league MVP may not have ever envisioned happening to him after what he has accomplished up to this point in his career amassing almost 12,000 rushing yards.
“I’m so excited, man”, Murray told the team website. New England has done the add-an-aging-back bit to effectiveness before – see a 30-year-old Corey Dillon helping provide its previous Super Bowl repeat. He also went over 100 yards rushing in a game only twice last season.
It’s not a surprise the Jaguars had some cursory interest in a free agent runningback, as the run game last season was a disaster.
It has not exactly been an ego-boosting free agency experience for running backs league-wide.

But for an organization that knows full well that good running backs can be found nearly anywhere, there was never going to an aggressive financial push to keep Murray in Oakland.
