Spieth sticks a quad at Augusta, but his timing has improved
Asked Friday how he felt about his position in the tournament, Spieth, who signed for a 69, told reporters: “Significantly better”. Just want to start hitting the fairways so you can hit the green and have the ability to make the putt.

The Masters throws them this way and that, up and down.
Forget a Tiger Woods’ style blowout.
Flannels, the luxury fashion retailer, who recently announced Westwood as an ambassador, have put a £2 million price tag on the tournament’s famous green jacket if he clinches the first major of the year.
Moore’s best Masters finish was in 2015, when he tied for 12th.
However, a couple of wayward shots on the last saw him mark a six for what is nevertheless a very competitive score of one under par. I was stunned. Spieth walked to the 16th tee and looked back at the scoreboard lording over the 15th and shook his head at the damage that was just done.
Though it wasn’t as shocking as fourth-round collapse a year ago, Spieth’s Thursday tumble came as a surprise because he had momentum after the birdie on 13. A similarly wayward drive on the par-5 second, cost Willett another shot, but he battled back well for a 73. But he finished with a 75, 3 over par, which was 10 shots behind leader Charley Hoffman.
“But I was relieved to see it down on the green”, he said. He moved to even-par 144 after two rounds.
But just three holes later, Spieth found another quadruple bogey.
Three-time Masters champion Phil Mickelson was in the minority when it came to the first-round conditions.
But that was as good as it got for the 23-year-old. “I think they were both very good for each other and very synonymous with each other”. “I feel like I need to snag something (Friday), but do it through patience and taking advantage of the par 5s”.
Spieth has only played 13 Masters rounds but he’s piled up a careers’ worth of moments, triumphs, and scars in that short time.
As long as he avoids the quadruple bogeys.
Interestingly, the ages of Masters champions seem to go in cycles.
When a victor emerges on Sunday afternoon, last year’s champion christens them in the iconic sport jacket – an eye-catching green number bearing the Masters logo, a small outline of the United States and a yellow flag stick pointing to Augusta, patched on the pocket.

And at the severe downhill par-4 10th hole, Moore’s approach shot took the right-to-left spine in the middle of the green and fed right next to the hole. He was at 150 – right on the cut line.
