Arsene Wenger: “I’m disappointed and determined to put things right”

Arsenal are now fighting a battle to finish in the Premier League’s top four, sitting seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester City after being humbled 3-0 at Crystal Palace on Monday.

They lie sixth, three points behind Manchester United, and seven behind Manchester City.

Arsenal fans let their feelings be known during a second half in which the Gunners failed to manage a shot on target and Carragher didn’t hold back as he let rip.

There is simply no excuse for how poor the Arsenal team have been of late and the harsh reality for Gunners supporters is that similar dejected performances have become an all-too- regular occurrence for the prestigious club. All we can do is apologise for that performance tonight. “I think they are extremely disappointed and I can understand that because we all are”, he said. “It was more painful for us to lose this game in the way we lost it”.

Wenger expressed his disappointment after the defeat to Palace, saying they fell flat in what he deemed a “must-win” game. We had a lot of possession.

Protests against Wenger’s management have become increasingly vocal in recent weeks, with fans concerned that the club could miss out on qualification for the Champions League for the first time under the 67-year-old.

Are Arsenal’s top four hopes over?

With the defeat Arsenal remain in 6th position.

Arsenal now sit sixth in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City with eight games left to play.

It’s looking likely they will miss out of a top four spot for the first time under Arsene Wenger, while they trail north London rivals Tottenham by a massive 14 points. On that front that is the most hard for us.

Crystal Palace had left Arsenal struggling to maintain their run of top-four finishes under Wenger. “When you are a big club you want to win every game, so that is normal”.

“I’m sorry Arsene, I love you, you’ve been absolutely sensational, but it’s affected the game and the team enormously”. It’s a big worry.

Former England forward and Sportsmail columnist Chris Sutton believes Arsenal need to replace Arsene Wenger.
