Ibrahimovic and Rojo facing lengthy spells out with serious knee injuries

Jose Mourinho declared Manchester United are in “trouble” following serious knee injuries to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo amid an increasing injury crisis at Old Trafford. The report is in this morning’s Sunday Times, and is by Duncan Castles, a journalist who is known to be close to Mourinho.

“I want to wait and try to be optimistic, but I am not”.

Mourinho said United may not be able to play Pogba after the midfielder, who completed the 120 minutes of Thursday’s Europa League win over Anderlecht, went off in stoppage time after taking a knock.

Ibrahimovic has defied many doubters since joining on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain past year, scoring 28 goals and inspiring United to victory in the League Cup.

“I will rotate the players again to give some players a chance again”.

Jose Mourinho has been without Juan Mata, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones but the recent injury to Ibrahimovic means a chunk of his first team players are unavailable.

Rashford, 19, already has eight senior England caps.

“We understood the way they play and we played against their strengths”. “For the team, you have to do everything”.

“I don’t care about it, I just think about them, and like everybody I’m really sad”.

“You can not do miracles, so I don’t expect miracles, but we do everything to accelerate the process”. Miracles I don’t expect. “Instead of mid-May, beginning of May”.

“No player deserves to be injured, but even more so [these two]”. There are no miracles. He is not expected to play until at least January 2018.

“I knew it did not look so good on television, but he seems to be in good spirits”, the left-back told Sportbladet.

Given how crucial these individuals have been and have become over the course of the season, losing them at such a pivotal time of the campaign will be a major body blow for Mourinho and the club.

Mourinho had kinder words for left-back Luke Shaw, having publicly and sharply criticised the England global on several occasions in recent weeks.
