Whether the Browns use their stockpile of picks to pull off a surprising trade for a veteran quarterback like New England Patriots backup Jimmy Garoppolo, Cincinnati Bengals backup AJ McCarron or Washington Pro Bowler Kirk Cousins remains to be seen. Glennon, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, lost his starting job midway through the 2013 season to Josh McCown, then permanently was relegated to backup duty when Jamies Winston was picked first overall in 2014. Some believed that he could have been a first round pick, and wound up tallying 118 tackles, four interceptions and three passes broken up last season for the Huskies. So when you have an opportunity to get a quarterback of this caliber, you can’t pass on it.
It did not take long for the draft order to take a new shape, as the Chicago Bears traded up one spot with the San Francisco 49ers to select Mitchell Trubisky. The Adams pick for the Jets is certainly a good one, and they will now be trying to build upon a strong start to the draft.

Fans will wonder why Kansas City moved up if Mahomes isn’t a star. This is a team that is a quarterback short of being a playoff contender.

A local writer here in Jacksonville was more optimistic about the direction the Cleveland Browns traveled in last night’s first round of the NFL Draft. The defensive lineman from UCLA brought a picture of his late grandmother with him to the draft, and became very emotional when speaking about her. “But he’s not the best player in this draft”. The Jaguars got the best running back in this draft and should help take the pressure off the passing game. Three trades to take three signal callers. That is good for the teams drafting after the run on offensive players ended.
