Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino insisted after his side’s latest victory, a tough 1-0 triumph away to Crystal Palace in midweek, that bettering Arsenal and claiming North London bragging rights is now the least of his worries.
“Our opponents are all the teams in the Premier League and to try to be the best is our aim”. That is my challenge, my aim, my dream.
“I think they have a very good squad, the coach does a very good job with the team”.
Spurs, who last won the league in 1961, stuttered in last season’s run-in to concede the title to surprise package Leicester City. Spurs are on a hot streak of form (despite the FA cup setback against Chelsea) and will be looking to end their White Hart Lane days on a high, before moving to the new stadium in August 2018.
Tottenham sat 10 points clear of Arsenal with 25 games played and Harry Redknapp’s free-flowing side looked set to extend the gap to 13 when they led 2-0 at Emirates Stadium.
“For a long time, more than 20 years, they finish all the time behind us”.
“I’ve got it more than ever because there is a lot at stake on Sunday, for us and for them (Tottenham Hotspur) as well”, the manager told.
“Of course for the fans, it would be a great moment to actual do it by winning against Arsenal – that would be fantastic”.
Thanks to the Manchester derby serving up the damp pile of wet laundry it did, Arsenal are now five points out of fourth with a game in hand over both Manchesters.
“It was hard to go home, to say we lost again, again, again”. I don’t have a preference for the Manchester derby, we don’t have to look much at the others. After that, for the pride and the continuity or our achievements, yes we want to fight to be in front of Spurs.
“The priority for us is to finish in the top four”, he said.
“Let’s be honest, I’ve answered that question about a shift in power over 18 consecutive years”.
The Frenchman has a number of injuries to deal with including that of Laurent Koscielny who just has a 60 per cent chance of playing today.

The Belgian midfielder is a critical member of the stating XI and will be assessed ahead of the crunch clash at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
