Titans choose six offensive, three defensive players in 2017 Draft

“Maybe expecting a monthly Omaha steak to show up on my door step or something”, general manager Jon Robinson joked when asked about being thanked by Mariota. Jackson had nine returns for touchdowns last season. He had an FBS record 5,285 yards receiving and is No. 2 with 52 TDs. The last time the Bengals took a receiver with their first pick was 2011, when they got A.J. Green with the fourth selection.

The Titans made a good choice picking Davis because he can help the offense in so many different ways.

“Corey truly had belief in himself”, Fleck said.

Davis is just shy of 6-3, weighs 209 pounds and played four years in college.

Based on his pre-draft meeting with the organization, Davis said he knew Tennessee was the place he would wind up.

Western Michigan took out an insurance policy to ease any of Davis’ concerns about returning, not that it would be needed, even though he couldn’t participate in the NFL Combine because of an ankle injury.

Davis said after he was selected that he feels fine. But Davis comes in as Football Bowl Subdivision’s all-time leading receiver with 5,285 yards, and being the fifth pick overall – the first wide receiver taken in the draft – ensures the chance to play immediately. Davis is a tall and physical receiver capable of burning coverage or going around, over, and through defenders as the case may be. “I kind of take that attitude as I take the field and do whatever I can to get a little extra yard because every inch matters”. Jackson also extends USC’s record of first round draft picks to 80. “If you need a playmaker, you’re not going to wait for one”. More receivers and a tight end to catch passes.

Titans coach Mike Mularkey loves the versatility these guys bring to the table.

“I texted everybody to introduce myself formally and tell them I am ready to learn from them and work”, Jackson said.

One of the most accomplished receivers in the draft, Davis is the first Bronco to go in Round 1 since Jason Babin went 27th overall in 2004.

The Tennessee Titans have picked up the fifth-year option on Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan.

While this wouldn’t be a death sentence by itself, rumor is that the Tennessee Titans are also considering moving Aaron Wallace to ILB as well. Their top pass-catcher last season in San Diego was 6-foot-4 Tyrell Williams, who could team with his new teammates to provide an imposing size matchup for any defense. He finished his rookie season on injured reserve.
