Kapil Mishra Allegations: BJP, Congress demand resignation of CM Kejriwal

On Sunday, Delhi’s sacked Water Minister Kapil Mishra made a shocking revelation claiming that he saw AAP convener accepting a bribe of Rs. 2 crore from the Health Minister Satyendra Jain.

“Day before yesterday (Friday), I saw Jain hand over Rs 2 crore in cash to Kejriwal at his residence”. Rebuffing all the support pouring in for Kejriwal, Mishra said, “The day Satyendar Jain goes to jail, everything I’ve said will come true”. “He was sacked after he raised the matter of Rs 2 crore being given to Kejriwal by Jain”.

“The kind of allegations against Kejriwal is unsubstantiated”. But his allegations are so absurd that it has backfired and he stands isolated today. He said he would be at the ACB office at 11 am on Monday.

During his stint as a minister, Mishra had also prepared a report against former Delhi chief minister and Congress leader Sheila Dikshit over the alleged water tanker scam. “But I met Arvind Kejriwal this morning, and I said that it has been a year since the report on the tanker scam was tabled and no action has been taken”, Mishra told ANI.

While Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia rubbished the allegations as baseless that “did not deserve” any response, the Opposition BJP and Congress demanded Kejriwal’s resignation and initiation of an investigation. “He should step down”, he said at a press conference here. An MLA from Delhi’s Karawal Nagar constituency, Mishra is also the in-charge of tourism, Gurudwara elections and art, culture and languages, apart from water.

“The party had identified great potential in him and wanted to cultivate him as one of its key leaders. They have lost all these premises”, he said. “It is a clear case of political witch-hunt”, said the AAP in a statement. “I fought corruption for the last 40 years and Arvind Kejriwal had joined me”.

I have given tanker scam details to the ACB. I also told him I will raise these issues with Lt Governor.

Driving his point home, Sisodia said that the allegations came after Mishra was removed as minister.

For a long time, talk about corruption involving funding, Punjab elections and Delhi government have been going on, he said. “I want to assure the country and party volunteers that we will continue to raise our voice against corruption, within and without, irrespective of what the outcome is”, he had tweeted in Hindi. I know Arvind for 12 years and I can not imagine him taking a bribe, ‘ Vishwas said after meeting Kejriwal. He told reporters that everyone in the party felt there are 4-5 corrupt people around Kejriwal but believed the AAP chief would correct everything. “Even Mr. Kejriwal’s enemies will never believe that he can indulge in corruption”.
