Francis Coquelin Wants Arsene Wenger to Stay After FA Cup Success

“I am convinced we were hurt by the uncertainty about my future with the players”, Wenger said.

The Gunners board and Wenger will convene for a board meeting on Tuesday (30 May) where his future will be decided. “Hopefully, he’ll be there next season”.

“It was a great team performance”, striker Danny Welbeck, who has been sidelined twice with knee injuries at Arsenal, told the BBC.

The Chilean found the net after just four minutes at Wembley, but an apparent handball from Alexis in the build-up, along with Aaron Ramsey standing offside, has left the Blues centre-back feeling hard done by.

And, as you can imagine, it didn’t go down too well with many Arsenal fans…

“I’m just blessed for this opportunity”, he added.

On why he introduced Cesc Fabregas for Nemanja Magic, Italian explained, “I put Cesc on after 60 minutes because we wanted to try to have more quality in our passes and make vertical passes”. However, the French International said he would announce his plans only after the FA Cup final which they won earlier today against their London rivals, Chelsea.

It took only three minutes for Arsenal to get themselves in front once again, with sub Oliver Giroud deftly setting up Ramsey, who headed home after an unchecked run into the box.

But he did reveal that he will keep a winner’s medal for the first time in his managerial career, breaking the tradition of giving them to members of his backroom staff. “You can’t read what Arsene Wenger’s going to do”.

It was expected the 32-year-old would endure a torrid afternoon against the likes of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard, but instead he was at the top of the game, leading Wenger to single him out for individual praise in his post-match press conference. “I’m here for whatever the team needs and I have shown that during the season”.

Mertesacker and young Rob Holding proved solid and masterly in defence, keeping Costa, the tricky Eden Hazard and Pedro at bay.

He said more light would be shed on his situation on Wednesday or Thursday, but there seems little doubt Wenger is still held in high regard by the players. “It was right to celebrate, to enjoy this (league) win”, he said.
