He’s the first Tottenham player to accomplish the feat and also the third-youngest after Michael Owen and Fowler.

Harry Kane raced into the lead for the 2016-17 Golden Boot with a four-goal salvo as Tottenham Hotspur thrashed Leicester City 6-1 in their penultimate English Premier League tie at the King Power Stadium on Thursday.

The England worldwide netted four times in Thursday’s 6-1 rout to take his tally for the season to 26 and move two clear of Romelu Lukaku in the goalscoring charts.

Harry Kane continued his impressive goalscoring form, and bagged four goals for himself.

Though Chelsea wrapped up the title last week, Spurs still impressed, claiming their 25th win in the league this season. It was the ideal night really.

Harry Kane deserves the golden boot and hope he gets it!

“I think there were three games I did not score in [at the start of the season] and then I went on a good run”.

Lukaku, meanwhile, has scored twice in 11 games against Arsenal in all competitions, though not since April 6, 2014. I’ve got to go out against Hull and get four more, hopefully. So there is still all to play for in my eyes but I could not have dreamt of scoring four.

“There has been a bit of build-up on the race for the Golden Boot and I wanted at least one or two to put the pressure on but to get four is unbelievable”, Kane said. “It would be a fantastic achievement”.

Spurs will be looking to end the season on a positive note after another campaign of progression under Mauricio Pochettino.

Following a 2-0 victory over Manchester City on October 2, the North London side had to wait for another five games for their next league win.

Ben Chilwell scored Leicester’s only goal.

The England worldwide is in line to collect his second Golden Boot in a row and is only the fifth player since the Premier League began to score 25 or more goals in successive seasons, following in the footsteps of Robbie Fowler, Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer and Robin van Persie. The England worldwide netted 25 goals last season and he bettered that tally this campaign, scoring five hat tricks along the way.

But in both cases he had just been involved in a summer tournament, firstly with England’s Under-21s and then the senior side at Euro 2016.
