“The crowd was going insane and it got me pumped up”, Friers said. “I feel good about having him on our roster”.

After recording just two hits on Wednesday against the Oakland A’s, Houston starter Mike Fiers threw the first no-hitter in Minute Maid Park on Friday as the Astros defeated the Dodgers 3-0. This was something else, though.
In addition to being the first no-hitter of Fiers’ career, it was also the first complete game of his career.
Fiers retired the last 21 Dodgers he faced after walking Joc Pederson to lead off the third.
Update (10:43 PM EST): Jimmy Rollins hit a deep fly ball to right field to lead off the ninth inning, but it was tracked down by Jake Marisnick. All three of his walks came over the first three innings, but he did not allow a runner past first.
“My command was off a little early, but it felt great to come out and perform for the team”.
BREAKING: Mike Fiers throws a no-hitter as Astros beat Dodgers, 3-0. In the sixth inning Evan Gattis mashed home run number 18 into the Crawford Boxes to add an insurance run.
CUBS 5, BRAVES 3: Kris Bryant and Miguel Montero had consecutive RBI doubles in the sixth as host Chicago extended Shelby Miller’s winless skid to 17 games. The Dodgers have established a reputation of overwhelming hitters with an NL-best 8.6 strikeouts per game, making them one of the top five teams in the league.
Eickhoff, acquired from the Texas Rangers as part of the Cole Hamels trade last month, allowed just five hits and one walk while striking out five.
The center fielder tied a franchise record with his three homers and set career highs in homers, hits, RBIs and runs. Utley, acquired by his hometown team from the Phillies on Wednesday, hit in the two-hole as the designated hitter on Friday. Santiago Castilla worked the ninth for his 30th save. Coincidentally, both of the Dodgers’ base coaches, Davey Lopes and Ron Roenicke, were in the Dodgers’ lineup for that game.
