The iPhone screen will also be locked to prevent drivers from using many of their apps while driving. So, no third party apps required. Reading a wider number of tags will open the platform up to supporting additional NFC-based services, such as NFC-based security systems, public transit systems, and (presumably) payment cards. While nothing of the refreshed Pro range is dramatically new, Apple said the display enhancements and increased performance will still “radically change” how customers use their device.

At this point in time, we only have our hands on the first developer beta of iOS 11. 9to5Mac adds that there is one catch, though: the device sharing the network must be unlocked. You can read a detailed breakdown of how it works here, but the gist of it is this: when storage is running low, the Offload feature removes little-used apps, but keeps their documents and data on your device.

In-app purchases will get a lot more attention in the App Store redesign in an effort to better promote the content that is now buried only on an app’s main product page. In any case, this will particularly be useful to organise things in the new Files folder as well.

It also has the option of sending an automatic voice or text reply to contacts listed in Favorites to let them know you’re driving and can’t respond until you reach your destination, so your mother-in-law can’t accuse you of avoiding her.
